Appearance: A girl standing at 5'4" and weighing 110 pounds, she is known for having ivory colored skin, with long dark brown hair which surrounds her heart-shaped face. Her eyes are more of a chocolate brown, and she has a crescent-shaped scar on her hand that is paler then the rest of her skin, and a few degrees colder. It's known that her scar also shines as if it is vampire’s skin when she is in the sunlight. She usually has a bracelet on her wrist with two charms on it. The first is a little carven wolf, and the other, a small crystal heart.

Personality: Bella has a tendency to act older then her actual age, often taking care of others. She is intelligent, and very understanding and caring. She dislikes dressing up in elegant clothes, and wearing make-up, as well as going to social events such as dances and parties. She has never enjoyed attention, and would much rather just blend in with everyone else. She is also very clumsy, as she is always found tripping over her own feet. She dislikes expensive things, and would prefer others not buy her gifts, although she finds homemade, and handy-down items to be much more acceptable. She also does not follow the normal fear patterns of most, and always seems to be embracing the worst. Bella also has a habit of being a trouble magnet, as she seems to always attract danger no matter where she goes.

Abilities: Bella is human with a very interesting ability that even she does not know how to control. She is able to protect her mind. In other words, nobody can get into it. So as long as it's something that involves her mind, it won't work on her. Other then this small detail, there is nothing else different about her.

History: Bella was born in the small town of Forks, Washington on September 13th, 1987 to Charlie and Renée Swan. When she was only 18 months old, her mother walked out on her father, taking Bella with her to live in Phoenix, Arizona. There, Bella spent the majority of her life, often looking after her mother more then her mother looked after her, and merely blending in with everyone else. When her mother got remarried to a minor league baseball player named Phil, Bella decided to move to move to Forks and live with her dad because Phil traveled a lot, and she wanted her mother to be able to travel with him.

She ends up attending Forks High School, and becomes intrigued by the Cullens, a very mysterious family of five adopted children, and two parents. But she finds herself most intrigued by Edward Cullen, who she considers to be the most attractive of them all. As time progresses, Bella begins to think that Edward dislikes her, even after he saves her from what would have been a fatal car accident. But it is that single car accident that also makes her truly notice Edward's outstanding abilities, and she begins to pursue the truth behind his secret, which is leads her to find out that Edward and his family are actually vampires. However they are not the normal vampires that feed on humans. Instead, they have chosen to become 'vegetarians' and feed off the blood of animals.

Despite all that she had found out, Bella finds that she is not afraid of Edward, and instead accepts him for who he is, and not what he is. Even when she finds out that he lusts for her blood more then any other human, she is unable to fear him, and instead begins falling in love with him. Later on, Bella is acquainted with his family, and invited to watch them play baseball, which is interrupted by a very different group of vampires led by James, a tracker. He finds hunting Bella to be like a challenging game, and is relentless in tracking her down. Later, he tricks her into coming to him alone, and almost manages to kill her before she is saved by Edward. He and his family kill James, however, Bella had been bitten on her hand, and Edward his forced to face his lust for her blood and suck out the venom that had begun changing her. Because of Edward, she remains human.

On her eighteenth birthday, Bella becomes upset that she is now physically older then the seventeen year old Edward, and even has a dream of her standing next to Edward as an old woman, a dream that bothers her greatly.

While at a party being thrown for her by Edward's sister, Alice, Bella gets a paper cut while opening one of her gifts, and the small amount of blood attracts Edward's brother, Jasper. He attacks her, and Edward instinctively defends her, causing Bella to knock over a table filled with crystal. It results in Bella receiving a deep cut from her wrist to her elbow. Edward is upset by this, and later decides to leave Bella, thinking it would be safer if he and his family were not around.

This one event causes Bella to sink into a deep depression for four months. It was her father her awoke her from that depression by threatening to send her back to live with her mother. Bella, wanting to appease her father, decides to try being a normal teenager, and ends up trying to spend more time with her friends. In the course of everything, she also creates a strong friendship with Jacob Black, a member of the Quileute tribe, and friend of the family. With Jacob's help, Bella wounds from Edward leaving begin healing, and she finds that she is able to smile again. But as time goes on, her bonds with Jacob strengthen, and she later uncovers that he is actually a werewolf, along with a few other members of the Quileutes.

However, all does not stay the way they are, as Bella can still not forget Edward. She finds that when she is in danger, that she hears Edward's voice, and in an effort to hear it again, she decides to go cliff diving, and almost drowns. Thankfully she was rescued by Jacob, and brought home. There, she meets up with Alice again, who had had a vision of her cliff diving and mistaken it for Bella committing suicide. Rosalie, having been told this story, ends up telling Edward before the misunderstanding can be fixed, and soon, Bella finds herself going to Volterra, Italy, to stop Edward from committing his own form of suicide.

She is successful in her attempt to stop him, but is pulled aside, along with Edward and Alice, by the Volturi, who tell them that Bella must either be turned into a vampire, or killed on the spot. However, Alice steps in and shows Aro one of her visions, and they are released. The only condition is that Bella must be a vampire by the next time they meet.

When they arrive home, Bella, who is intent on becoming a vampire, decides to have Edward's family to vote. All except Rosalie vote for her to join their family, and they decide to wait until after Bella's graduation. Edward, disliking this outcome, decides to bargain with Bella. At first, hoping to extend his time with her, but later, he finds a deal that he is much fonder of. He agrees that he will turn Bella himself if she agrees to marry him first, an agreement that Bella is obviously not happy with as she holds off on a definite answer.

As time goes by, Bella continues to think over the deal, and later agrees that she will marry him if he agrees to make love to her while she is still human. Thought Edward refuses at first, she later manages to convince him to try, but Edward tells her that he will only do it after they are already married. In the mean time, they had been keeping eye out for Victoria, who wished to kill Bella in order to get revenge for her mate, James. In order to accomplish this revenge however, Victoria begins to create an army of newborn vampires. In order to successfully fight the newborns, the Cullens create a truce with the Quileutes werewolf pack. A pack led by Sam Uley and his second in command, Jacob, who tries everything he can to win Bella over. Despite her engagement and love for Edward, Bella realizes that she sees Jacob as more then a friend, but she can't help but see Edward as the love of her life, and in the end, turns Jacob down.

After Victoria and her newborn army are defeated, and Bella's feelings are settled, she decides to wear the ring Edward had given her, and tell Charlie about the engagement.

False memories: Bella believes that she was born, and brought up in Terra, and that when she was very young, her father was shot, and killed on the streets. Her mother became distraught by her fathers death, and this distraught was soon followed by her mother acting completely irresponsible to erase the memories. In the end, Bella ended up being more like the mother by doing everything, from cleaning and cooking, to getting an actual job, while on top of everything, attending school.

However, things didn’t stay as they were, and she believes her mother died two years ago from an incurable illness. Ever since then, Bella believes she has been living on her own, and working hard just to stay afloat, while also attending high school, which she graduated from only recently. Since then, she has spent the majority of her time working in the Café as a klutzy waitress. Despite her clumsiness however, she works hard, and often makes more then she breaks.

Though Bella knows she has been working at the Café for a long time, there are spots in her memories that are fuzzy, moments in her life that she just can’t seem to remember no matter how hard she tries. But the one thing she does remember is that someone was always with her, someone who she cared deeply about, and loved more then anything. The one thing she doesn’t know is who it was, seeing that she remembers nothing of Edward, and her time in Forks. The only mementos she has from that blurry time are a ring and a bracelet which she treasures more then any other possessions she owns. She doesn’t understand why those items are so important to her; she just knows that they are.

In her small amount of free time, Bella often finds herself visiting the Library, always searching for a new book to read, and sometimes reading her favorites over again. She doesn’t have anyone she really considers a friend, and despite her loss of memories, still finds herself to be a very ordinary girl.
